Timanfaya National Park
Which is host to Fire Mountain is the main attraction for people to visit when in Lanzarote. This massive Volcano erupted in 1730 and lasted 6 years till 1736. It’s also classed as the closet to the Moons surface as you will find on earth.
There are now a few markets in Lanzarote including one in Teguise and Playa Blanca, there are a few ways to get to the markets.
The Cactus Gardens
On the north east coast of Lanzarote are home to more than 10,000 cacti. These attract the female cochineal beetle from which carmine dye is extracted.
Located in the south of Lanzarote is home to the Green Lagoon.
Santa Barbara Castle
Is located right next to Teguise on Mount Guanapay. This castle was build as a look out post to warm the Island capital if pirates were spotted.
Mirador Del Rio
Is a viewing point that is at the most northerly point of Lanzarote. From this viewing point you will have views of La Graciosa Isle.
Cueva de los Verdes – The Green Caves
Is part of the same underground volcanic tubes as the Jameos del Agua and were formed by the eruptions of the volcano de la Corona.
Was born in 1919 in Puerto Naos Arrecife and is the person responsible for shaping the Island as it is today. His house in which people can visit is built in to the lava.
Was once Omar sharif’s house and is believed to have lost this house in a game of cards.
Jameos Del Agua
Jameos del Agua is located in the north of Lanzarote (next to the Green Caves) and is a tourist attractions which was formed by lava bubbles.
Guinate Tropical Park
Is located in the northern part of Lanzarote, the park has 45,000 square meters of gardens and 1,300 exotic birds and animals.
Christmas in Lanzarote
Although not really an attraction, there is many smaller attractions to visit at Christmas if you are visiting Lanzarote.
Femes is a little known location in Lanzarote that offers one of the best views of Playa Blanca.
Whale and Dolphin Museum
The whale and dolphin museum is a new attraction and is located in Puerto Calero.
Los Hervideros is near El Golfo, this is natural rock formation where the sea crashes against the rocks and causes some dramatic views.
El Patio is a unknown attraction in Lanzarote to most people, built in 1840 this is one of the oldest farm houses in Lanzarote.
Lanzarote Wine Trail
Although Lanzarote is more famous for it’s volcanoes the Islands is also known for it’s wine. Grown locally on Lanzarote they are many wine areas and bodeca’s you can visit.
