Christmas in Lanzarote

As everyone knows, Christmas is a time spend at home in front of a fire with friends and family. More and more people however, are swapping the cold weather in the UK and jetting over to Lanzarote to swap the cold winter period for a warm sunshine filled holiday.

It may come as a surprise to people to find out that the Christmas period in Lanzarote is one of the busiest times for some of the resorts. Puerto Del Carmen receives around the same, if not more tourists in winter as it would at the height of summer.

People will mainly come over to Lanzarote for Christmas to avoid the "rat race", of course Christmas is still celebrated in Lanzarote but at a much slower pace.

Christmas day is not celebrated in the same way as it would be in the UK, this is because the Spanish celebrate Christmas on the 6th January (Epiphany). The reason for this is that the three Kings arrived in Bethlehem to deliver presents to baby Jesus, you can read more at http://www.santas.net/.

Some of the attractions to visit over the Christmas period will be the Fire Works display (largest held in Puerto Del Carmen) the Three Kings and many Nativity Scenes.

The weather in lanzarote at christmas is one of the most common bits of information poeple request, many people will escape the cold winter and head to Lanzarote as the weather around Christmas is going to be nice. Generally the weather will still be around 20-25 degrees.
