Teguise Market

Teguise was once the Capital of Lanzarote. It's main attraction to tourists now is the fact it's an old town with over 500 years of History. Just walking around this town gives you the feeling that you have stepped back in time and you have finally found a typical Spanish village.

The main day that any tourist heads to Teguise is a Sunday for the Market. The Teguise market is on every Sunday of the year and is nearly always full of tourists trying to find a bargain. They are hundreds of stalls for people to have a look round with many entertainers around the area. There are local bars open and ready to serve you with drink or food from early in the morning to when the market closes.

Playa Blanca Market

The market in Playa Blanca is held at Marina Rubicon on a Wednesday between the hours of 09:00 and 14:00. This market is still quite new to the area but does offer a good selection of clothes, jewellery and many other Lanzarote gifts.

There are buses that go to Playa Blanca on a regular occurrence from the main tourist resorts.

The market, once finished gives you the chance to walk around Marina Rubicon to visit some of the nice bars and restaurants in the harbour.

Getting to the Markets

They are a few ways to get to the different markets, with include:-

Bus - They are a few busses you can get from the area you are stopping. These will take between 15 - 45 minutes to get you there.

Car - If you have hired a car you can of course drive up. If you are going to do this, be sure to have a good map and take plenty of water in the car.

Note: In Teguise they are many areas for people to park. This will normally cost you around 1.80 Euros but the car is there for the day.

Organized Trip - You can book this trip with your tour operator either in your welcome meeting or by catching your 'rep' at some point. There is also normally leaflets dotted around your resort that will offer this trip.

Just returned from an excellent holiday in Lanzarote. Went to both Markets. Whilst the Teguise market is much bigger and the more 'exciting' we found shopping for those little presents to take home to be more relaxing at the Marina Rubicon market.

We loved our visit to Teguise Market. There is quite a huge selection of merchandise. If you are looking for table clothes and napkins don't buy till you have been here. There is great choice at exceptional prices. We enjoyed looking round the village. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
